Questions about transplant evaluation
General information only. Your treating specialist advises on your own case.
Who can be a donor?
Indian law allows living donation by close relatives, such as a parent, child, sibling or spouse. Proof of relationship is checked, and the hospital's authorisation committee must approve the transplant.
Which documents do donors need?
Usually passports, documents proving the relationship, and a letter from your embassy or the relevant authority in your country. Your coordinator sends the exact list for your nationality.
How long will we stay in India?
Kidney transplant recipients usually stay six to eight weeks, liver transplant recipients two to three months, for close monitoring after surgery.
